A performer of any type thrives on the audience and the applause, and this is true regardless of the medium that the performer uses. Audiences are what allows an actor or public speaker to thrive, and the people in it tend to add an energy to the air in the venue that charges the performer. Performers need to remember that an audience will provide instant feedback, whether this is positive or negative, and the individual must be able and willing to accept constructive criticism when this is offered. Whether the audience is clapping or booing they are vital to any performance, and should be treated as such and not just paying customers.
